Oh shit.

Looks like the guy who had the necrolord theory was right.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 8:38 AM edit delete reply
Yep. It's just something that stuck out, because nobody knows who made these death knights in the first place. Now we have the first part of the answer to my previous questions.
Mlaurence 7th Sep 2016, 12:06 AM edit delete reply
Nazul was the first to resurrect the dead and turn them to minions when he became too powerful he betrayed kil jaden who in turn turned him into the lich King and sealed his soul in armor and shoved it into ice with that he was forced to hold the scourge for kil jaden and that ended when arthas took the helm and became the lich King that man is who created the death knights the first was a boss in Black temple
Hok 7th Sep 2016, 4:19 PM edit delete reply
Actually the first death knights were made by Gul'dan. Teron gorefiend was one of the first, Ner'zul didn't play too much in the creation.

So he's a lich? Or is this some Druid thing? Because as a DK, this certainly isn't one of our powers.
Nakomiwold 5th Sep 2016, 10:34 AM edit delete reply
Actually it IS one of the DK powers, or was, last I played it. WoW has changed some abilities since then.
Guest 6th Sep 2016, 11:18 AM edit delete reply
Is there a way to turn into a lich as dk? I've only played on a wotlk server :x There they could remove some cc by becoming undead but this didn't change their appearance, just their race tag
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 6:35 AM edit delete reply
Woah, who is this Lich?
Silegna 5th Sep 2016, 11:17 AM edit delete reply
It was a talent called Lichborne, that made you undead, had no graphic, but allowed you to spam death coil on yourself to heal.
Rick 5th Sep 2016, 6:37 AM edit delete reply
I have a feeling it just got very very real
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 6:39 AM edit delete reply
It's either Mordin, which explains his voice and powers, or it's possibly the Figure who raised the Death Knights including Mordin. Both make sense, but only way to know for sure is to wait and see.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 6:41 AM edit delete reply
It's possible the Lich is Kel'thuzad, however the color doesn't match.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 6:42 AM edit delete reply
Second panel Kinar kind of looks like her father.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 6:48 AM edit delete reply
Wait a minute, this CAN'T be Mordin. First of all, yeah he has both druid and necromatic powers, however we haven't seen him raise any dead nor have we been told it. And second, there is no evidence he delved into necromancy in life, which is the only possible way he'd be like this. However that seems unlikely because he had a family and a purpose to be a druid which was to bring balance to Kinar.
Dreamfox 5th Sep 2016, 12:09 PM edit delete reply
No, not in life, but while dieing and seeing his son dieing as well? And let's not forget that WoW bosses tend to have unusual backgrounds.
As for raising the dead, were did all his Death Knights come from? Including Kinar's brother, which would be quite a coincidence otherwise if he met him by chance. And remember (strip 137):
Gath: "They left me behind, you didn't."
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 1:38 PM edit delete reply
An interesting statement. However, we don't know everything that happened while that was happening. When the family got to the house, only bones were found and no bodies. The bodies must have been dragged or carried out of the house.
Dreamfox 5th Sep 2016, 4:07 PM edit delete reply
True, we don't know. I can't wait to find out.
Rasminar 5th Sep 2016, 10:43 PM edit delete reply
I think it played out like this.
>Be Denor, quickly making it back to your house after hearing news about the worgen outbreak in gilneas city.
>Make it home to find out that your wife got infected and shes attacking Joric.
>Stop her from killing Joric, but get fatally wounded and infected in the process.
>Wait for a battle rez. Then realize its not the game and you're screwed.
>Infected wife runs off to wreck shit in the woods.
>With your dying breath, heal Joric's wounds to ensure he doesn't bleed out.
>A while later some necromancer dude (lich) walks in and is like "Hey I can make use of this."
>Rezzes you as a DK.

Somewhat makes sense in my head, but we know far too little at the moment to be sure.
Amocin 5th Sep 2016, 10:55 PM edit delete reply
I loled at this... now I have to go listen to the Imperial March a few times or its going to be stuck in my head. =P
BloodshedSabre 6th Sep 2016, 5:49 AM edit delete reply
I suppose we could fit in a good yoda reference into Kinar's training with Serid then...
'Do or do not, young Worgen, there is no try.'

I do seem to remember Mordin having dual swords...maybe Emporor Palpatine will show up some time soon in the current fight...
Kinar: The fight is over, Mordin. Now you must pay for your crimes. (Or something like that.)
Palpatine: Do it.

Hell, we might even be able to get some sort of inspirational quote from what could be Qui-Gon Jinn with some epic end-of-the-war' sounding music.

I think too much.

Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 6:49 AM edit delete reply
In conclusion the Lich who started the main conflict in the comic, if my theory is correct, has just revealed itself.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 10:03 AM edit delete reply
It's already been confirmed Mordin is a death knight in the character description, some could argue the specialization could be a giveaway to being a lich too. However, I don't think so, because what we've been told aND shown, is Mordin has only Druid and Death knight powers, as well as fadin away, but that's just one extra. We haven't seen him raise any dead, there was a ghoul twice earlier in the comic however it's uncertain who raised it. His speech bubble could be more evidence he's a lich, however death knight voices and lich voices both echo, so that disproves he's a lich too. Mordin's speech bubble is probably different to make him seem more intidating.

And back to the nightmare again
Confuzzled 5th Sep 2016, 6:56 AM edit delete reply
I'm not entirely sure what's been going on for the last several pictures. Can someone recap it for me?
Mikotaj Fenirs 5th Sep 2016, 7:01 AM edit delete reply
Nope, not Kel'thuzad, the looks don't match, this is just a regular Lich, Unless Amocin says or shows otherwise
Vel'Navyr 5th Sep 2016, 12:02 PM edit delete reply
Kel'Thuzad was killed during the events of the Frozen Throne and this story line takes place after those events, so there is no possible way that a possibility exists that this lich could ever be Kel'Thuzad
BloodshedSabre 5th Sep 2016, 7:03 AM edit delete reply
Oh jeez.
This really is turning into an Endbringer battle.
Flashy regeneration/healing abilities that seem to work instantly without failure, dead things and large malicious looking beings that actively try to burn holes in everything via the eyes.
Now all we need is a dragon that's actually alive and a whole bunch of people who can shoot either lasers or something that explodes.
Maybe some teleporting or flying people too.
This, is gonna be awesome.

My Latin is rather rusty, but I'll have a go at it.

"The scattering Spagen trumpet sounds among the graves of all lands, summoning all before the throne! Death is struck and nature quakes as all creation is awoken, answering to its judgement."

The same guy I think typed the first part on the previous page if you want to translate that too
Rankamateur 5th Sep 2016, 10:01 PM edit delete reply
That one was a bit harder to formulate into English, but here goes nothing:

"Dies irae dies illa Solvet saeclum in favilla teste David cum sybilla. Cuantos tremor est futurus..."

"This is a day of wrath that will render the world into ash, as foretold (or witnessed) by David (and? the?) Sybil. Cuantos will be terrifying."
Lenanu 5th Sep 2016, 7:33 AM edit delete reply
Ok I'm a bit confused here. Did he just went from bear to some giant undead thing?
Rasminar 5th Sep 2016, 9:06 AM edit delete reply
I'm not entirely sure myself.

Imo it seems that the lich that raised mordin as a dk was watching the fight and was like "fuck it, im ending this shit right now."

Either that or mordin is actually the lich which I don't think is very likely.

But its not like were going to find out what happens for a few months since this is the ultimate cliffhanger page. We might see the story briefly shift to something else for a while, Amocin has a tendency to do things like that, and its very effective at hooking an audience.

Hm....something odd....either this explains his speech bubble, delved in necromancy in secret...that still doesn't explain why he would do it. There's almost no reason for Denor to delve into necromancy in life. That must be a new character. Amocin, I can't wait til next week, or a month passes or two, when this oddity is explained.
Dreamfox 5th Sep 2016, 11:49 AM edit delete reply
According to the WoW Wiki, a spellcaster can will himself into becoming a lich. It does not mention any specific caster types though.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 8:50 AM edit delete reply
I wonder if Serid getting stabbed by Mordin earlier is forshadowing for Serid actually being killed later.
Rasminar 5th Sep 2016, 11:15 AM edit delete reply
After being forced to read Romeo and Juliet its certainly not far fetched that Kinar and Serid are killable characters.

Rasminar 5th Sep 2016, 11:10 AM edit delete reply
My heart says its not Mordin.

My brain and storytelling instincts say otherwise though. It just seems like the ultimate reveal and glimpse of death that the protagonist must experience. Also Mordin being a lich brings something that's already a tragedy to a completely new level.

God damn it, can someone just freeze me in a cryo-chamber and wake me up once we find out the truth?! Anticipation is killing me.
Rankamateur 5th Sep 2016, 10:47 AM edit delete reply
If that lich is Mordin (and not a summoned minion), then some questions have been answered while raising others at the same time. If it is him, then his permanent destruction will be impossible for her to accomplish without knowing a...certain something, somewhere.

He is certainly a devious bastard.
Dreamfox 5th Sep 2016, 12:21 PM edit delete reply
'If the lich is Mordin (and I think he is), that 'certain something' might be an object Kinar knows. I mean, it had to be something on hand when he became a lich, right? As someone saved Joric, it had to be something from their home.

I doubt someone turned him into a lich and allowed him to save his son

And were can he hide it? In a, while large, but still enclosed area, dragons and other spellcasters on the lookout and spies among his Death Knights?

...I just re-read a few older strips and it hit me. His wedding ring. That's probably the reason while he is still feeling something for Kinar. He is reminded of her every day.

Of course, I could be completely wrong here, so I can't wait to see how this turns out.
Dreamfox 5th Sep 2016, 11:58 AM edit delete reply
I think the lich is Mordin. According to the WoW wiki, a spellcaster can will himself becoming a lich and it would explain a lot.

Beginning with how Joric survived when Kinar turned into a worgen. On a hunch I'd say that a feral Kinar left them for dead and while dieing he still wanted to save his son. Becoming a lich allowed Denor/Mordin to heal his son.
Mikotaj Fenris 5th Sep 2016, 3:23 PM edit delete reply
Though it is possible for any castor to will themselves to become a lich, how many of those castors ACTUALLY KNOW how to do that? I think Denor in his dying moments would not of thought of becoming a lich, he'd think about what just happened and protecting his son. He was probably in shock too that his wife attacked him and their son.
Dreamfox 6th Sep 2016, 8:20 AM edit delete reply
All true.
The question is, do you need to know?
Can the desperation of wanting to save his son be enough to do it?

I realize I am a bit biased. I like stories were individuals accomplish stuff by themselves, be they heroes or vilains. And I tend to follow story logic over rule logic of a game.

Amocin...why is Victor on the character's list if he only had a min or part in the comic and isn't recurring minor character?

Is he going to show up later? It's something I just realized.
Amocin 5th Sep 2016, 1:42 PM edit delete reply
Victor was an extended cameo character for something we did about four years ago.. He will not be appearing again in the comic, but as part of the cameo he got a part on the cast page.
Rasminar 5th Sep 2016, 1:55 PM edit delete reply
Meant to ask this question a while ago but what is the shape of Drogan's shield? Is it like a simple barrier/wall or a giant dome (I always sort of imaged the shield being a dome, so that the DK's can't fly out, although by looking through the comic it seems to be a simple barrier)?
Amocin 5th Sep 2016, 1:58 PM edit delete reply
It's a dome.
