Thank you for all your hard work in making it.

so then. this is it. the end of druids... so sad to see it go, because it was a great comic and I've enjoyed it since I first found it and started reading it. I would say I found it about over a year ago now, just wish it could have lasted longer... amocin, this was a great comic. I heard your doing another comic after this so I cant wait to see that. keep up the great work, we'll all see you again when next comic comes out, and for now I bid you adieu.

After 9 years we reach our journey's end. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride.
Redmoonwatcher 31st Aug 2020, 7:08 AM edit delete reply
Ah so it finally ends, though part of me wishes it could go on longer there's no sense in dragging things out if the ending is satisfying which I find this one to certainly be. It's also nice we see Nathair here doing well in this final shot!

I'm glad to have followed this comic, even if I was not the most active in the comments I've been here every week for each new page throughout the years it has been going. I'm curious to know if you thought that you'd end it this way back when you first started the story, what you changed about it as you went along, as well as what's next for you now that the end has finally been reached.

It’s hard to believe this is the end! Will there be an epilogue of any sort? I would have loved to see Shai and Amo’s baby.

Well, that is it. The end to an amazingly wonderful comic that has given me a reason to look forward to Mondays for many years. Been reading this since the first few pages and fell in love with the artstyle and eventually the story and characters as well. Seeing your artistic style developing during this journey has been very fun as well and though I could never look at worgens the same way again after reading your comic because your artstyle is the one way, with how your style has developed, this is even more true now. This has been one hell of a journey and even though I obviously wanted to to be longer I want to thank you for the work you put into the comic, for not giving up on it halfway through and for the amazing characters you have created. Thank you Amocin.

The first web comic I read, first furry thing I enjoyed, made me love Tauren, Made me accept my self as a bisexual made me cry, made me smile. All these things, I graduated High school, went through my enlistment in the Marines, through tough times and now another chapter of my life is complete, Druids was always my escape and I hope one day we could see more of the cast, even with this one ending I plan on keeping the Unbroken patronage I’ve had since 2012 thank you for everything good luck

It's been a great three years. :'(

I found your comic with #320, Dream Friend, on Aug 28th 2017. It was really my first furry work, when I was just looking for a WoW-related comic. You drew me in; you and Rick Griffin (Housepets!) and Gre7g Luterman, all of you fantastic storytellers.

Thanks for the time and effort.

I will continue to support your work on Patreon in the meantime, wait for what will certainly be more excellent work with Skylords, and hope in my heart that someday you will revisit this bit of yourself that you have shared with us.

====The Short Stuff====
What a wonderful view indeed, literally and figuratively, as the final send-off for Druids. Congratulations on finishing Druids, and thank you Amo for the wonderful story and the beautiful art. Probably, most likely, a coincidence that the ending of an august comic should be at the end of August, but a fitting one nonetheless.

A couple of questions:
(1) Where should we go to look for updates on Skylords, such as the new comic website address that shall be bookmarked straight away?
(2) Will the cast Q&A be Patreon-only, or some mixture of Patreon exclusivity such as only Patrons can ask, only Patrons get the answers, ...?
(3) Is there a possibility of more picture sales in the future? I was hoping to donate for the collection after the pandemic exigencies gets sorted.

====Long-winded Ravings====
Preamble: this rant isn't a request or plea or what have you to keep Druids going. It's clear as day to me that this comic is done done stick a fork in it done. And I'm very much looking forward to your new world unencumbered by somebody else's lore!

While all good things eventually come to an close, and this particular ending has been on its way for a while, it doesn't lessen the impact of the gut punch from the indisputable realization that this is curtains for Druids. The characters I've come to love as part of this small escape from reality are forever frozen in smiling stasis, with their last stories written in absolute finality*. Yes, I know I shouldn't be crying because it's over, but instead should be smiling because it happened. Endings are a beautiful thing in their own right, particularly when it heralds a new beginning. Sunsets and sunrises are both magnificent, but then I get all melancholy again upon realizing that between the two is a long, cold night after the ending of Druids and before the dawning of your next comic in 2021. That being said, I completely agree that you should take as much time as you want to let you and your muse refresh and recharge. Much like the airplane safety briefings right before takeoff: put on your own oxygen mask first. In light of the fustercluck that's been 2020, my sincerest best wishes to you and your family in handling whatever new curveballs life throws your way.

A significant part of my sadness at Druids ending is that there are still so many potentially compelling tales left untold and intriguing details left unexplored. To me, Druids has all of the hallmarks of a solid foundation for beautiful story: captivating characters that make me want to learn more about how they came to be, exciting journeys that take them into the future, and fun detailing that breathes life into the whole thing. The sad comes from letting go of a beautiful story knowing that there's about the same chance of seeing the characters go on more full-fledged adventures as finding Amo's mount in hell. A tiny sampling of things, small and large, that I wish there was time to canonically cover in comic form, but now I can only wildly speculate about.
(*) How did Amo get her intimate worgen transformation scar, and how did she get over the potential trauma of that event? I suppose if she sought out a close encounter of the lupine kind that would have been less traumatic than say, if Archmage A-woo-gal was responsible if going by Blizzard worgen DK lore. Thinking more closely about it, the latter can have fairly disturbing ramifications... sometimes ignorance really is bliss...
(*) If Joric was alive, then whose bones were found in Joric's room when Kinar went feral? Did Denor/Mordin leave the bones there as a red herring to mislead everyone into thinking that he and Joric were goners so that Kinar would not try to find them and interfere in his plans? Which ties into the next question...
(*) Denor's descent into deathknights, delusions, and despicable douchebaggery. Kinar's fond memories of him and the potential redemption of his ghost spirit entertain the possibility that he was a decent enough fellow while alive. Was he harboring darkness even in life, and was Kinar's recollections of his kind nature merely the result of rose-tinted glasses? There are some hints in the comic that he had a tad of a benevolent dictator or control freak complex. Or was Denor as virtuous as Kinar remembered, and it was the lich that was responsible for whispering the seeds of the Global Worgenization Plot into Denor's ear, Inception style, by preying upon Denor's rage and despair from being mauled to death and losing basically everything he held dear? Perhaps a mixture of both, or neither? Regardless, it would have been an interesting dive into the psyche of the main villain who, refreshingly, wasn't a two-dimensional cardboard cutout of diabolical evilness.
(*) et cetera, but this rant is getting long enough without a litany of further questions and hypothetical speculations.

Thank you Amocin, for writing, illustrating, and posting this comic for nearly a full decade. It's truly amazing and inspiring that you were able to keep at this endeavor and that you plan to continue weaving new tales and narratives for us in the future in the form of Skylords. I've read Druids from the beginning several times now, and each time it's like an Easter egg hunt for something new that pops out: a subtle plot detail tucked into a scene, artful foreshadowing that doesn't hit you on the head like a pile of bricks, the unspoken feelings of love, tenderness, lust, and the occasional hilarity in the adult sexy fun time scenes (especially the later ones). In addition, one of my most favorite parts of re-reading the comic is the sense that not only are the characters and plot growing, but that the entire storytelling experience and delivery, both artistic and literary, is evolving as well. The deliberate effort that you must have invested into Druids is nothing short of commendable. With such a proven track record, I'm itching to get ahold of Skylords, 2021 can't come soon enough.

Finally, thank you to all the donors that have enabled Amocin to spend time making the webcomic. The web is littered with many a half-baked comic that started with a promising story concept but were then unceremoniously abandoned due to real life getting in the way. As someone who stumbled across Druids when it was already wrapping up, the real tragedy would have been running into the much dreaded "this comic is now on indefinite hiatus" page right as the action and character development was heating up.

Anyhow, I'm out of cliches and platitudes. Back to moping through the 5 stages of grief. Thank you again, Amocin, for Druids. It's been a damn good ride :-)

* I am aware that there are side-comics, but please humor my exaggerated melodrama for a while

Amocin
I read this last night but was a little too drained to fully answer it. So sorry for the delay on getting back to you.

First of all, I would like to say that I am deeply humbled and glad that you enjoyed the story I brought to you. I am also super happy to see that people recognize the time and effort I put into little things like the mental status of our dear villain.. that it seems everything I wanted to get across to the reader, I did get across. It makes me feel even more accomplished that not only did I finish the story, but I did it well and that so many people enjoyed the ride. ^.^

To answer your questions now.

1 - This is the website for Skylords, as you may notice there is not much up there and we have a place holder image with an old Druids page. We are still working on creating the page and the likes, but this is where it will be as far as I am aware.
http://skylords.thecomicseries.com/comics/

2 - Patreon's will get a bit more in the way of having their questions chosen but we will also answer a few non-Patreon questions here and there. The answers will be posted on Patreon, but the image itself will be free, so all may view it with no restrictions.

3 - I am sure we can absolutely do that. We frequently do sales, and we continue to drop the price on the older pics every year.

On to speaking about your notations.

1 - Amo's intimate transformation scar is nothing too special, and more along the lines of human gets infected, human transforms mid going down on a woman.. now said woman is also infected.. so nothing too special and was added more as a joke kind of thing then anything.

2 - Kinar has shown multiple times in comic that she is an animal person. She works at the Stables from time to time, knows a fair deal about the animals/mounts that her companions ride, and got her hands on a Netherwing welp in a place that had never seen them and was pretty closed off from the world, making it near impossible to find one threw trade.

Most people can not tell the difference between human and animal bones on first inspection and even more so if no skull is present. There was a cat sleeping in the crib with Joric at the time, and it should have been assumed at that time that the cat perished and Joric survived.

3 - I did want to get more into the thought process of Mordin in story but I couldnt find the right place to fit it in. He was written with Good reasons, but a bad way to go about it. He was a fairly decent man in life, but was certainly against the Horde and this was a means to ending it, in his mind peacefully. It did follow his nature of being a Druid but was twisted. There is so much I could write about him and what he went threw, and it is absolutely in my mind already.. and thats what i think where a lot of people fall short in their villains.. they should be the hero of their own story.. and when they do horrible things, you need to question "Why?" and have a good damn answer. Nobody is evil for the sake of evil..

Even Hitler, the most used example of evil douchbaggery, had reasons.. they were shit reasons.. but they were reasons. He wasnt evil cause he liked doing evil things.. he thought that what he was doing was for the betterment of humanity, and he was okay doing somewhat evil things to achieve that goal.. In his mind it was cracking the eggs to make the omelette as it were.

4 - Extra Credit. I also wanted to touch more on Sicha and her circumstances but felt like I would easily be spending another year or two with how much I would need to invest in that, and that it would take a lot of focus off the main comic itself.. it seems to me like Sicha's story could be better used as a side comic, if enough people showed interest.

Thank you again for your wonderful comment, support, and for letting me know that even though I feel personally like I failed in some regards, that I have done my job well enough to make you guys love following the story. It has truly been a great honor and I am so happy to stamp a "THE END" onto something that I did. ^.^
TwoBits 1st Sep 2020, 5:36 PM edit delete reply
No apologies needed at all, I'm grateful and quite pleasantly surprised at your very detailed response! My rant was more or less me shouting into the void, it was quite unexpected that there was a reply back :-)

(1) Site has been bookmarked!
(2) Wonderful, thank you for making the extra tidbits about the characters accessible to all.
(3) Great to hear that there will probably be more sales in the future.

Story threads:

(1) Thanks for the background on how Amo got her scar. Might be me reading too much into things: I had noticed that in the Amo/Shai side comic Amo's reluctance for Shai to continue going down on her, and the thought crossed my mind whether or not that was reflecting her transformation trauma.

(2) Amo, you've done it again with the subtle clues and hints that make Druids so re-readable. It definitely flew over my head that the cat in Kinar's dream was the answer! Makes perfect sense to me now.

(3) Very nice exposition of what was going on inside Mordin's head and the meta-message that you were aiming to have his character deliver. In my opinion, you definitely hit the mark, he certainly wasn't the stereotypical cartoonish mustache twirling evil mastermind. The bit of dialogue where Kinar explains to Koutack, and indirectly to the audience, the seductive allure of his plan was one of my favorite touches in establishing Mordin as the hero of his own story. It's so welcome to have a villain that exemplifies the cautionary saying that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." Always a relevant lesson that it's much too easy to get caught in a trap of having blinders on and losing sight of what truly is good.

(4) Yay, extra credit! Sicha's story can easily be an emotional roller coaster with all the pieces you've laid out in the main story. Based on other comments I've seen, it seems like I would not be alone in wanting to see how Sicha's tragedy (and potentially happy ending?) plays out.

Again, I think that you totally did a bang-up job with Druids. I'm sure that if you had all the time in the world, there are probably things that you would have done differently. But there is no such thing as unlimited time, and I feel that the trade-offs you chose for Druids worked out well in the form of a wonderfully compelling story. Different circumstances and different times means you'll probably make different choices for Skylords, and you have my absolute vote of confidence that it'll be just as great as, if not better than, Druids. :-)

Congratulations Amocin. You completed an 8 year work of love, and in 2020 no less. Too bad you can't go to Disneyland(tm) right now....

I want to thank you for every beautiful page of this sprawling work. It has been a true joy to follow the adventures of these crazy characters. You imbued them with a life force that reached out from the page and gave each their own personality.

I would have loved to follow them forever, but I understand you have other dreams you want to bring to life. Unfortunately I will no longer be able to follow you on FA. After the recent drama, I decided that I did not want to maintain an account there anymore.

I want to wish you the very best in the future; both with your art and most importantly with your family. No matter where your path takes you from here, may it lead to happiness and success.

I hadn't commented yet because, well, I don't know how to express myself sometimes. I started following this comic since very early on, the very beginnings of it. So many things happened, so many things have changed. We got a long story, we got colorful characters, we got something to be invested in. Sometimes getting to come here every Monday after a rough weekend and find a new page was such a nice pick-me-up to start the week off right, and then in 2017, after that damn hurricane left my island with no power or signals for months, getting to return to find a good bunch of pages waiting for me brightened my spirits so much. In general, Druids has been, for years, always a bright spot to look forward to.

So, after all that, after so long, it comes to an end, and it's just so bittersweet. I love this comic and I heartily appreciate all the hard work you put into it. Thank you so much for everything, especially for all the smiles you put on our faces. I hope we may see these great characters again, and I look forward to your upcoming new comic.

Its always sad when a story comes to an end but end it must. At least we can reread it over and over and over again.

Thank you for this amazing story. I really enjoyed it over the years. Sometimes it was something to read when had time and sometimes it was the only thing to wait for a whole week.

Came for the smut, stayed for the story. Not many have managed to do that for me.

Wow. To think I've been following this comic on and off for the past 4 years is mind blowing. Not least to mention it begin in 2011. That's insane to think about. Wish you all the best for your future endeavours

A great comic and story. I am sad that it has now come to an end. It was a really great Story which I always liked to return and see the progress over the years. I hope you will continue someday. Druids get far to less love. :) Thank you very much for all the hard work and dedication over the years. It surely was not always easy to keep up the shedule and your pivat live. I am looking forward to further side stories of the cast.
And i hope you will continue the monthly pictures. Best regards

I really enjoyed this comic. Amazing art artwork and amazing storyline. It was a thrilling and breathtaking rollercoaster ride. Incredible job. We laughed, cried, raged, celebrated, mourned, and triumphed with the main characters and many companions of the comic and became friends with them. Can't wait for the next great adventure. Till then farewell. May the road you travel on be kind, may the sun always shine upon your face, may the stars brighten your path, and may your hearth and home be forever be a safe haven for you and your own. Thank you your sharing this journey with all of us. ;)

Sorry to bug you, but I noticed that the disclaimers and links have been clipping through the pictures and the archive.

I haven't actually been able to access my patreon account for afew months now, it wants me to verify my account, but it never sends me the email so I can verify it. Only reason I didn't terminate the billing through my PayPal is cuz I love Druids, that even though I'd lost access to my patreon I still wanted to support your comic lol
